Memorizing or Understanding?

Image
If someone asks you that how many teeth a human has, what will you do? Will you count your teeth and say the number or just remember the number and say it? The second option will be much better, less time-consuming, and accurate. So, is it better to memorize or understand? Yeah. It's a great question. Let's understand it with an example! Suppose, there's a quiz is going on in class four of a school. Every student has to answer each question in only 5 seconds! That's a very short time.  Suppose the teacher asks, how many faces does a cube has, what will you do? Some of the students will simply imagine a cube and tell the number and some will remember and say the number. Which technique will be faster? Research shows that, on average, the student who remembers the number will be able to answer faster. Sounds peculiar, right? 😒 Now, suppose there is the same scenario. But, the students are not in class four, they are in class twelve, who are not in culture with geometry. ...

How to memorize anything?

Memorizing! It's really a difficult job. You study all time, the syllabus has been completed, but when the exam comes, hey I can't memorize anything! It's the human brain. It's just like computer storage. But not actually. Because the human brain has a capacity of ~2500 TBs. Yeah, ~2.5 million GBs or ~256 Crore MBs or 2621 Billion KBs. That's a huge number. According to hopkinsmedicine.org, when we learn something—even as simple as someone's name—we form connections between neurons in the brain. These synapses create new circuits between nerve cells, essentially remapping the brain. On the other hand, the brain simmers with activity. Different groups of neurons (nerve cells), responsible for different thoughts or perceptions, drift in and out of action. According to Queensland Brain Institute, memory is the reactivation of a specific group of neurons, formed from persistent changes in the strength of connections between neurons. So, how to memorize? Firstly...

Image

Classes are digital, notes are digital, books are digital. But, why? WHY WE'RE SWITCHING TO DIGITAL? There are multiple reasons behind this switching. Who wants to go to their office, even if they can do the same work from their own home! This is a big reason behind this switching "laziness". COVID-19 made us familiar with the internet. That guy taught us to work from home! (Not a guy but a virus) Who wants to drink whey after tasting milk? Secondly, by going online, they can sell products to more and more customers. It is applicable for education as well. Let me explain. If a teacher opens a school and teaches hundreds of local students. And another teacher starts virtual classes. In which case, there will be more learners? Obviously in the virtual class case. On the other hand, compani...
